Every Mario game needs its obligatory flying power-up, and alas, the carrot was all you got in Super Mario Land 2: Unlike SMW's Feather or SMB3's leaf and tanuki suit power-ups, it didn't let you soar to new heights so much as fall a little slower by flapping your rabbity ears. At that, the gameplay was built to accomodate the ears, they were invaluable in spiky situations, and perhaps most importantly of all, the final boss, Wario, looked especially unhinged when he copied your look and tried to rabbit-stomp you in one last grasp for victory.
