Why can’t everybody just leave Garrett alone? All he wants is some peace and quiet so he can steal without pesky interference. Recruited at an early age into the secret order of the Keepers in the video game series Thief, he eventually rebels against their rigid hierarchical ways, using their techniques to rob people for pure personal gain. But he’s not ruthless. He won’t kill except as a last resort. He wants to take people’s stuff, not their lives.
And as solitary a creature as he may wish to be, he does find himself with some friends to whom he acts rather cordial. Then those friends pluck out one of his eyes and replace is with a mechanical version so he can zoom in and out, seeing guards, enemies, and loot from afar. He is a master thief, not to be trifled with, especially by small children used at plot devices to create a cyclical theme to the game franchise.
