If the Star Wars movies were not contemporary with your life, it is very possible to forget that there was a time when giant movie trilogies were not filmed consecutively, when blockbuster movies didn't necessarily immediately get sequels, and that there was a period of three years when Star Wars: A New Hope was the only Star Wars movie in existence.
We invite our readers born after 1980 to consider this idea for a moment, because it was within this three year period that The Star Wars Holiday Special had it's one and only airing. Notable for being the one Star Wars related thing that George Lucas hates more than Han shooting first and for being the actual first appearance of Boba Fett, the so-bad-it's-good special introduced the Wookie celebration of Life Day.
Life Day is a celebration of family members deceased and children growing, accompanied by religious services and traditional food.
Traditional food like Wookiee-ookiees and Hoth chocolate. Yeah, we see your point, Lucas.
