J'onn J'onzz is a DC Comics character who probably would have remained fairly obscure, if he hadn't cemented himself in the minds of fans and writers as inextricably linked with the Justice League. J'onn is the last of the great Martian race, displaced in time by technological mishap or prolonged hibernation, depending on whether you're into the comics or the cartoon show. Either way, he was born thousands upon thousands of years ago. His role in the Justice League is the most administrative of any of the regulars, and his ability to form telepathic links and relays across the entire breadth of the Earth suits him for the job. J'onn is no back-of-the-lines fighter, though. He shares pretty much all of Superman's powers, and adds telepathy, shapeshifting, invisibility, and the ability to pass through solid objects.
The Martian Manhunter loves Oreos, and is among the short and illustrious list of Justice League members to appear in Sandman, and the only one to appear more than once.
