The Fir Bolg were the race of creatures that inhabited Ireland before the island was conquered and populated by the gods of Irish mythology, the Tuatha Dé Danann. Very little is known about either group, due to the folklore eraser that was the advent of Christianity. However, the Fir Bolg have been given life again in modern fantasy gaming, and for some reason we decided that they like bears. As you can see, in the accompanying Monster Manual illustration, there is a bear, presumably to show scale. The Furbolg of Warcraft are also a race of bear men. And presumably bear-women. It can be hard to tell.
