The Planet of the Apes, originally a 1963 novel by French author Pierre Boulle, then a 1968 film starring Charlton Heston (then a remake we don't talk about) told the story of a strange "foreign" planet dominated and ruled by ape tribes. Written back in 1963, the original novel sent its hero into space for 350 years before he plummeted back down to solid ground. Now, it isn't 350 years later just yet, but we're going to consider this future to be practically debunked.
First of all, we don't have ape slaves and the practicality of that doesn't seem likely to increase any time soon. But mainly, the space craze isn't anywhere near what it was back in the sixties. It looks like a future where (spoiler alert) apes overthrow humanity and rule the Earth hasn't happened yet and isn't going to happen in the next 300 years either. Anyone want to go start a cult that worships a dud nuclear bomb?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
