He may have been one of the great tech villains of the 90s, thanks to the whole 'Microsoft antitrust' thing, but Gates has seriously mellowed out and revamped his image since stepping down to a less active role with Microsoft. Reviled and envied as the richest man in the world, he has put and continues to put his substantial wealth to good purpose with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, and is a thoughtful speaker on world health issues and technology. Also, even though they might not have been worth $10 million, he was surprisingly funny in his ads with Jerry Seinfeld.
