As the Linux's namesake and the author of its initial kernel, Linus Torvalds is a hero not only to the types of people who make YouTube videos championing Ubuntu's load time, but to the free and open source software movement as a whole. According to Eric S. Raymond, Linus' Law states that "given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow," a maxim that has contributed to the speedy rise of free, quality software like Firefox, OpenOffice, and Drupal. Not everyone is onboard, naturally: Microsoft's Steve Ballmer (who you can bet will make an appearance on some Power Grid to come), who infamously referred to Linux as "communism" in 2000.
