Tim Burton knows how to do creepy, sure, but what he's really good at is confusing your creepy detector. He can make things so equally creepy and adorably pitiful that fearing them makes you feel like a horrible person. Like a terrifying puppy that's very sad. He made his name with 1989's Batman, shortly later got off of that franchise Titanic, and then promptly started using that name to work on film projects that he could actually make his own. --SP
