All right, let's forget for a moment that Jordan Mechner's cultural impact is currently defined by an ill-advised film adaptation that would make Edward Said weep tears of blood. Let's instead look back to a time when Mechner had his younger brother leaping around in pajamas to get the animations in Prince of Persia exactly right. Or when his Smoking Car productions purchased one of two extant cars of the Orient Express for the production of one of the most underappreciatedly revolutionary adventure titles ever published. Or his PBS documentary about the destruction of a Mexican-American neighborhood to build Dodger Stadium. What have you done again, lately? -AC
