Gaming journalists are often accused of being too cowed by the clout of their advertisers to make really deep, cutting criticism. Against that backdrop, curmudgeonly gaming blogger Sean Malstrom is a real treat. In his long, detailed, flamboyant posts, he leverages an impressive working knowledge of gaming and the industry into provocative, outrageous claims that send the IGN boards into a tizzy: for instance, that "Nintendo is still trying to repair the damage" from the Wii, or (gasp!) that Super Mario World was received as a disappointment. Malstrom isn't the guy to read if you want to hear how Modern Warfare 2 is the best and will change your life forever, but he's an entertaining outsider/insider who's as far from gaming groupthink as they come.
