Some people hear Digimon and think, "Oh, that thing that isn't Pokémon." Well, they're right to an extent, it isn't Pokémon, though the accompanying attitude may not be so correct. The theme is similar to Pokémon and countless other anime, where monster things battle other monster things in a contest-like fashion, except Digimon were digital monsters from a world manifested from Earth's communication network. So: Different from Pokémon and a physical interpretation of the Internet on top of that! The monsters live in the Digital World, though the Chosen Children, children chosen to defend against whatever obligatory evil with which they're faced, use the Digimon to protect both worlds, real and digital. So, it's not as popular as Pokémon, but the concept is fairly similar, except for the entire children-inside-a-digital-world-battling-with-digital-monsters thing.
