The version of Chronos that appeared in Justice League Unlimited is only superficially similar to the DC Comics character he is based on: a harried husband in the era of Batman Beyond who discovers the secret to time travel, but uses it only to amass a collection of historical curiosities of little value. At least, until his wife finds out about it and demands that he make something of himself. David Clinton snaps under his wife's penultimate lecture and immediately leaves to steal the utility belt of the 20th century Batman, earning the attention of Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern John Stewart.
The Once and Future Thing is a two-part episode of Justice League that takes place half in the Old West and half in a version of Batman Beyond continuity where the timeline has been so screwed around with that although 20th century Batman and 21st century Old Bruce appear to be from the same timeline, Old Bruce doesn't remember any of this ever happening to him. Half way through the second episode, Wonder Woman simply disappears, when the events that caused her to join the Justice League are altered. At another point, John Stewart is suddenly replaced by Hal Jordan, from an alternate timeline where Hal was the Green Lantern of Earth when the Justice League was formed. A few minutes later, he turns back into John again.
But this grid is supposed to be about time loops, and that is Chronos' ultimate fate. When Batman, John Stewart, Batman, Warhawk and Batman finally catch up with the guy, Batman (20th Century Batman) decides to imprison the guy in the two minute loop of time that directly proceeded his attempt to steal his utility belt.
Which, if you were paying attention, traps him in an eternal wifely lecture.
