With sociopathic tendencies and the undertones of racial supremacy, the Borg proved to be a pretty obnoxious foe for the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation and subsequent series' crews, most notably in the 1996 film Star Trek: First Contact, which revealed to us the Borg sphere.
Initially shown as an escape vehicle from a Borg cube when it was destroyed, the Borg sphere wound up being a pretty formidable enemy ship, considering it was equipped with the usual reactive armor and an army of 10,000 Borg drones. If that wasn't scary enough, it also had the ability to travel through time. The Borg used this ability to attempt to disrupt the events of the human race's first contact with aliens, between the residents of Bozeman, Montana, lead by Zephraim Cochrane, and the crew of the Vulcan survey ship T'Plana-Hat.
Ultimately, the Borg are always defeated and their spheres are always destroyed one way or another. Maybe the Borg should've gone back in time to strengthen those Borg sphere schematics.
