Within the first Magic: The Gathering card set, Alpha, lied very powerful card with a very ridiculous mechanic, The Chaos Orb. The card read, "Flip Chaos Orb onto the playing area from a height of at least one foot. Chaos Orb must turn completely over at least once or it is discarded with no effect. When Chaos Orb Lands, any cards in play that it touches are destroyed, as is Chaos Orb."
For those who aren't familiar with the mechanics of Magic: The Gathering, this meant that the Chaos Orb disregarded most of the rules of the game, and by a flick of the wrist, was able to destroy anything an opponent played. The card was so powerful that it was banned from various play styles, as well as had its rules heavily appended - to the point where if a card it landed on was wearing a protector sleeve, the sleeve was destroyed instead of the card within.
