The Sphere from the 1998's The Sphere, based on Michael Crichton's The Sphere, is some kind of alien artifact that the main characters discover inside a sunken American spaceship from at least the year 2043 that gives them the power to manifest their subconscious wills. And for a movie that had Dustin Hoffman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sharon Stone in it, it was remarkably bad (12% on the TomatoMeter).
Their subconscious wills mostly wanted to kill everyone for some reason or another, and an error in translation allowed them to think that they were talking to an alien named Jerry, when they were talking to the dreaming subconscious of their colleague Harry, who had disappeared earlier. Then at the end of the movie the three survivors voluntarily decide to wipe all memory of the event out of their brains.
Many viewers wished they had the same ability.
