In Warren Ellis’ third story arc for the Wildstorm-Justice-League-equivalent series The Authority, our heroes, already possibly the most powerful super-hero team in comics history, kill god. Or, at least, they kill the organism that created the solar system and set it to cool on a windowsill for several billion years while it tidied up about the kitchen. Now it’s back, and is devoting but a blip of effort to swat a curious fly from the Earth’s crust.
The fly in this metaphor is the human race.
The first strike comes when the moon sprouts several infestations of black goo and launches thousands of dog-sized, black sperm at earth, to swat the fly and un-terraform the planet.
God (as the characters mostly refer to it) itself is a being so massive that the Authority’s ship the Carrier, currently comfortably housing a country’s worth of refugees, can fly through its arteries like the Millennium Falcon through an asteroid. What they first assume are antibodies turn out to be an advanced race of aliens that just happen to be living there.
