When the Predator comic series took off and Fox decided to rush a second movie into production, the team realized that they wouldn’t be able to bring back Schwarzenegger. Who could they possibly get to follow the future Guvnor’s footsteps? After considering Patrick Swayze, they eventually settled on…Danny Glover?
While many considered this an odd choice, Glover’s Lt. Mike Harrigan ended up being a pretty big bad ass in his own right. Not only is he able to complete what Dutch couldn’t (Harrigan actually kills the Predator in Predator 2), he gains the respect of the Predator clan in doing so. And besides, even though Harrigan doesn’t have Dutch’s inhuman biceps (seriously, Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers look like action figures in that arm wrestling scene), he does have one thing in common with his predecessor.
They both think the Predator is “one ugly motherf**ker.”
Ps. That reminds me; what is up with John McTiernan movies and “motherf**ker” based catch phrases?
