Uru Live kinda sorta happened, once. If there is a game, and one of its most effective, successful, notable characteristics is the complete solitude of the main character as they move through worlds that were once inhabited, would it game be on your short list of games that would make good transitions to the Massive genre? Uru would have allowed players to explore a virtual simulation of "actual" D'ni ruins discovered in New Mexico. It would have been a game based on collaborative puzzle solving, where each player had a home world, a Relto, to craft as they saw fit. NPCs would have been played by actors (calm down, Mr. Stephenson), and regular updates would have expanded the world(s). To quote Jerry Holkins: "As much as I want every gamer to be the sort of person who will roleplay themselves on some message board, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon and I don't blame a person for not being crazy in the way that makes that kind of thing desirable." Myst lovers, have a chill up your spine.
