Shaq Now Funding Shaq Fu Sequel On Indiegogo

Can't Kazaam just take care of this for him?

Apparently shilling soda isn’t sufficiently fulfilling for media mogul Shaquille O’Neal: yesterday he launched an Indiegogo campaign for Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, the sequel to his legendarily terrible ’90s foray into gaming. The campaign slogan? “This time we won’t FU it up!”

We know, we know, why would anyone invest in a Shaq Fu sequel when the original was so bad, a website is literally dedicate to its total eradication? Because of love and hope, that’s why.

Shaq has an all-star team of designers on board to ensure his second attempt at gaming is a slam dunk, or another basketball metaphor of your choosing. A Legend Reborn‘s Indiegogo page says Shaq Fu will have developers from “HALO, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Alan Wake, Spec Ops: The Line, Battlefield, Killzone, Max Payne, Duke Nukem, and many other huge franchises.”

You can watch the game teaser here to see if Shaq’s tenacity is worth supporting.

If the teaser doesn’t seem promising, maybe the incentives offered to contributors will inspire you to help the Legend Reborn campaign meets its $450,000 goal. If you’re willing to shell out $600, Shaq will be your “personal secretary” and record you a 60 second outgoing voicemail (presumably, “leave a message after the beep! Don’t FU it up!”) For $1000 he’ll also follow you on Twitter, but if I had luxury money set aside to rehabilitate ridiculous video game franchises, that would just be insulting.

For $15,000 you and 5 friends will be rewarded with “Ballin’ at Shaq’s Shack,” an afternoon of lunch and pick-up basketball at the legend’s house–travel not included.

That sounds like it would probably be a good time, presuming Shaq let me win, or picked me up and dunked me through the basket or something. Judging from the Indiegogo page, he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
