PlayStation 4 Will Almost Certainly Be Revealed at February 20th Event

It’s finally happening, people. Sony’s having an event on February 20th at 6PM EST, and all signs point to this being the event where the company finally announces the PlayStation 4. If they really do announce the successor to the PlayStation 3, it’d give Sony a nice long while to build up buzz for their lineup at Electronic Entertainment Expo this year. There’s a remote chance that this has nothing to do with the company’s next console, but it’s ridiculously slim.

That chance gets even slimmer when you consider this tweet from industry analyst Michael Pachter:

This isn’t just some event for people that want to check out what Sony has in the hopper as far as video games go. The fact that they’re inviting investors seems to cry out that there will be a console reveal. That seems to be the consensus, anyway, as even the Wall Street Journal seems to think that Sony has a console up its sleeve.

Here’s the teaser video for the event that Sony’s put together. It’s pretty much just a snazzy way of showing off the company’s traditional controller buttons, but whatever. At least it’s something:

Okay, scratch that. It’s basically nothing. Oh well. It’s not like we have too long to wait. In the meantime, you can always take a look at this slew of rumors based around the theoretical console. That’ll just have to hold us all over.

I wish they would ditch the controller button labels and go with the same letters everyone else uses. Quick time events in games on the PS always screw me up.

I’m excited to see the console I’ll be using to let my sister show me the one indie game she’ll download on it.

    Isn’t “everyone else” just Xbox?

Well Nintendo has standard buttons too whenever they have standard controllers. JX just means the usual A/B/Y/X/L/R/Z/C/Start/Select
