Sprint PR Confirms Their 4G LTE Will Offer Unlimited Data

In a world where unlimited data plans either don’t exist much anymore, or are being throttled and aren’t truly unlimited, Sprint realized that a good way for them to stay in the mobile phone game is to offer the coveted unlimited data plan. When they got ahold of the iPhone, they confirmed that they will be offering it for Apple’s device, stating that their 3G network would be able to handle it. Now, a PR person from Sprint has confirmed that they’ll be offering unlimited data for their 4G LTE network as well.

Mobile phone site Tech Hog reports that Sprint’s upcoming 4G LTE phone, the LG Viper, will not only retail for $99, but will offer an unlimited 4G data plan. The mention of an unlimited data plan happened more than once in the phone’s press release:

“Pairing innovative technology with the Sprint 4G LTE network and unlimited data plans, LG Viper 4G LTE helps manage work and personal time…”

“LG Viper pairs perfectly with our unlimited data plans to bring customers the benefit of new technology, including our upcoming 4G LTE capabilities at a great price.”

Though stated almost clearly in the above excerpts, one could make the argument that the above statements don’t directly tie unlimited data plans and the 4G LTE network together. However, Tech Hog is reporting that a Sprint representative reached out and has confirmed that Sprint will indeed offer an unlimited data plan for their 4G LTE network when said network goes live, stating:

“You are correct, LG Viper 4G LTE will be available on Sprint’s network featuring unlimited data.”

Again, one could make the argument that the grammar of the response suggests that though the LG Viper will be available on Sprint’s network featuring unlimited data, the sentence doesn’t state that the Viper will be available on a 4G unlimited data plan. Luckily, that initial “you are correct” was in response to a direct question if the 4G LTE network will be offering unlimited data. Though good news for Sprint customers, it’d be nice if they didn’t dance around the direct subject so much.
