Just In Time for Independence Day: Captain America Is Back In Business

Recommended Videos

Captain America was brought back from the dead a little while ago, but since then he hasn’t been doing much in the Marvel universe.  His protege Bucky has been wearing the suit and doing the job.

Writer Ed Brubaker is finally giving Steve Rogers something to do.  You can pick up the first issue of Steve Rogers: Super Soldier this week, on Thursday.

Yes, that’s right.  Remember everyone: Monday is a bank holiday, so new comics come out on Thursday.

Said Brubaker to Newsarama:

Him not running around in a Captain America costume or uniform, depending on how you want to refer to it, sort of opens up the question, “Who would this character be if he weren’t Captain America?” What would he do, and what would he be in the Marvel Universe if he didn’t have to put on a star-spangled uniform? Who is he then?

I think that’s really interesting. The other times where that’s happened, he’s been pretty much a guy in a different costume. But I think in our modern times, it’s more interesting to look at what other things we could do with this character.

ComiXology has a seven page preview of the issue up, along with the three variant covers.  You can find it here.
