Superman and Wonder Woman are the Biggest Couple in Comics

For years, they’ve been dancing around it. Hiding their feelings. Calling it impractical. In 2012, Superman and Wonder Woman have stopped pretending, and are now the most super superhero couple in the DC universe. Starting in next week’s issue of Justice League, Superman and Wonder Woman will hook up and start dating.

The cover of the issue, Justice League #12, was revealed earlier this week in Entertainment Weekly, showing the couple’s ability to get high around each other. Do you think they’d notice if they flew into a bird, or a plane maybe?

Some of you may be asking; “but where’s Lois Lane?” If you aren’t a modern DC fan, then let’s fill you in: DC recently rebooted their entire comic universe. Dubbed “The New 52,” every modern franchise has been restarted, starting with issue #1. In Superman’s new reality, Clark Kent and Lois Lane aren’t married. She has a new boyfriend now… His name is Jonathan.

According to Justice League writer Geoff Johns, a “possibly tragic” event will occur that hits home for every member of the Justice League, leading Superman and Wonder Woman to rely on each other for comfort. While that may sound like a recipe for a short term flash-in-the-pan kind of romance, Johns insists that the romance between Superman and Wonder Woman will be “the new status quo.”

As a bonus, the first run of Justice League #12 will come with a special edition Justice League tissue, in case things get little too emotional.* We wouldn’t want fans ruining their books, after all.

*We’re kidding. There is no special edition tissue. Sorry for getting your hopes up.

They maybe a “good match” because they’re both powered heroes, but isn’t Superman’s powers physiological in nature while Wonder Woman’s Magical?
Superman is vulnerable to magic as well as Green, Red and Gold Kryptonite…
I wonder how that might work?  Maybe Supes should stick with Lois Lane?
An Amazon Princess might be a bit more than a Man of Steel can handle…

For a long time, I thought they were couple, before I actually did some comic reading and came to know whole thing about lois lane and stuff. I am sure many of those who do not much about DC universe are under similar impression.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! That’s all I have to say.

Never cared for Lois Lane. never did. Now this hot amazon…yes.  Superman may not be as whitebread and boring as I thought he was.

Just came to say that, whatever you think of the pairing, you have to admit that’s a really good looking cover.  Really nicely done.

This just makes me remember The Dark Knight Strikes Again (groan). Will this be the origin of Lara,WW and Supes daughter?

It has nothing to do with being more than he can “handle.” It’s that being a “good match” should never be based on something as superficial and abelist as both having superpowers.
Lois and Superman were a good match because their personaliities sparked and because they believed in the same things. They loved each other.

Yeah, cause that’s how we define women…by how “hot” they are.
That’s what makes a guy “cool” and not “boring” right? Getting the hottest chick.
    Gross.

Yeah…uh…they were never hiding their feelings. Superman loved Lois. He loved Diana as a friend. Diana and Lois were friends. Diana respected Clark’s marriage and accepted that he would always love Lois more.
If you are going to report on it you could at least not twist the actual canon for 25 years.

Yes, it does. Like you said, Lois and Superman were a good match because their personalities sparked, and they believed in the same things, and they loved each other. Princess Diana of Paradise Island(Themyscira) is a demi goddes with power, and affiliation with the GODS and GODDESSES of Olympus…
Putting two powerhouses together might make Supes lose his perspective. Lois helps him keep it.

I didn’t think it was possible, but DC jumped the shark harder than ever before, I hate how they ruined years of Supes and Lois’ romance just so they can appease the fanboys they ship these two, DC the only reason I even like you now is because of the Batclan and Green Lantern

New 52 was when I stopped really reading DC comics. Rebooting AGAIN, DC?

  • Andee

No. I want Batman to be her beau.
