Whenever you’re cruising through CES announcements and demos, you’re always looking for that one thing that ignites that spark of excitement in your chest, lights up your eyes, and makes you realize that we’re living in the future. Well, the Samsung Smart Window will deliver. The Samsung Smart Window is a window, but it’s a display. It’s a giant transparent touchscreen you can use as a window. It’s a see-through, window iPad. It’s amazing.

The biggest problem with tech these days is that everything is getting smaller. That is why I strongly approve of Behringer and their new iNuke iPod dock announced at CES 2012. This baby weighs 900 pounds, requires a double door to even get into a house, and is too big to even function as a desk or table or something. It’s so big that it is severely inconvenient and practically useless for the average person; exactly how I like my speakers. Needless to say, the bass this bad boy drops could probably kill you, but that’s part of the fun. Behringer has miraculously gotten a few pre-orders for the insane device, and I say more power to them. Apple, I’m looking at you for a giant iPhone. I want to be able to hollow it out and live inside.

If you thought Swiss Army Knives that just had flash drives in them were cool, have I ever got news for you: They’re going to make a Swiss Army Knife that has a flash drive and the traditional pointy implements. You can now commence jumping up and down in celebration. What with the cloud being all hip, popular and easily accessable, physical storage is becoming more and more antiquated, but pointy things are always important, especially when accompanied by a 1 terabyte drive.

If you ever wanted your own pair of remote control, motorized shoes, you don’t have to wait any longer. spnKiX (pronounced “spin kicks”) have just launched at CES and are exactly what they appear to be. These puppies boast speeds up to 10 mph and can support a wide variety of feet, men’s sizes 6-14 and women’s 7-15.5. Ironically enough, it might seem, spnKiX are NOT recommended for anyone over 180 pounds, so they’re no substitute for your trusty Rascal. That being said, they might be a step towards the future I think we all want.

When you think cutting edge technology, you think cooktops. Alright, maybe you don’t, but I do. Okay, I don’t either, but it turns out that cooktop tech is way cooler than you might give it credit for. Enter the Thermador Freedom Induction Cooktop, recently unveiled at CES. Because the Freedom Induction Cooktop uses a series of 48 magnetic inductors, it gains all sorts of super powers. Its surface stays cool to the touch, it can support pans of any shape and size, and it doesn’t limit you to placement on any specific burner.

As you are probably aware, the International Consumer Electronics Show 2012, or CES, will be taking place in Las Vegas in just a few days. You may not be able to go, but you can at least brush up on your CES history and that’s just as good, isn’t it? Okay, it’s probably not, but it beats a hard kick to the head. CES has been the home for announcements such as the LaserDisc, the NES, Pong, Tetris, and TiVo. Want to know more? You bet you do.
