Rent the Conan Studio on AirBNB

AirBNB, the couch surfing service that allows one to rent an entire country if they so wish, has a listing for the Conan studio. No, not that Conan, and there’s only one of those Conans as far as we’re concerned. The funnier one. Team Coco has put Conan O’Brien’s studio up for rent on AirBNB, available for a few days from October 10 to October 13. Amenities include a “celebrity-grazed” sleeper sofa and an air mattress that has fallen in disrepair.  Of course, one must wonder if Team Coco is going to have one of the sketchy AirBNB experiences.

Hacker News points out that the couch surfers booking the studio will be filmed for the show, so they must be okay with that, making the AirBNB rental some sort of comedy bit more than a publicity stunt. Those comedians and their comedy. Head on past the break to check out the studio’s amenities, and check out the listing over on AirBNB.

Conan O’Brien Gives Us A First Look At Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark

Last night Conan O’Brien treated us to a sneak preview of the songs and technology that have gone into the multimillion dollar Spider-Man musical, and boy does it shine. Man!Wonder Woman was a daring, avant garde choice, but mostly it was very effective comic book nerd trolling.

First Leaked Pics from the Set of the Conan Movie

No, not the other guy. Rather, this is the Conan the Barbarian reboot/re-imagining that’s been slated for a release next year. The film, which started shooting in March, stars Hawaiian actor Jason Momoa of Baywatch and Stargate: Atlantis fame in the titular role (presumably because Gov. Schwarzenegger was too busy cameo-ing in the Expendables). While Momoa doesn’t really have the presence his predecessor had (few people do), it remains to be seen what he’s actually capable of with a sword. Check out the photos after the jump, courtesy of /Film.

Conan Is Back Onstage, and He Will Survive [Video]

Conan O’Brien is doing pretty damn well for himself. With news already out that he’ll be heading back to television on TBS this fall, Coco kicked off his 32-city live Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television tour last night in Eugene, Oregon. Showing off a Writer’s Strike-era beard and the same wacked sense of humor that brought him to TV, reviewers were happy to see him in good form, even if this first show was uneven at times.

Why Conan O’Brien Should Have Made His New Show for XBox Live

Funny geek Conan O’Brien bucked convention when he picked cable network TBS over Fox as the launchpad for his new talk show, which will debut in November. But apparently, Conan may have seriously considering bucking TV altogether: Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that he was in talks with Microsoft to make a show for XBox.

Deadline:

A lot of showbiz reporters got it wrong (not us!) speculating about where Conan would land. They were fixated on Fox and assumed he would only go to a network. But the fact is that, we knew from the very beginning, Team Conan (including his exec producer Jeff Ross, and WME’s Rick Rosen, and manager Gavin Palone, and Ziffren Brittenham attorney Sam Fischer), were thinking way outside the network box. For instance, there were discussions with Microsoft about an XBox deal for Conan’s show that would have broken new ground. And yes, discussions took place with Fox.     [emphasis added]

There’s a lot to be said for the TBS deal: Whereas Fox’s affiliated local stations were reluctant to give up prebought reruns for Conan — and Fox has a nasty history of canceling good programming – TBS “agreed quickly to almost every request” from Conan’s camp, and the network has a fairly young audience to boot. And it can’t hurt that Conan will get a reported eight figures for his troubles.

At that: Think of all of the positive effects a Conan talk show exclusively for the XBox would have had on the industry as a whole.
