So you already knew that beluga whales like mariachi bands, now witness cows being intrigued by this jazzy rendition of “When The Saints Go Marching In.” No word on why these guys decided to go and play music to cows, but the cows seem to be enjoying it. Is playing music for animals a new meme? I hope so. I want to see a flying squirrel headbang to death metal.

Girl Trains Cow as Horse [Video]

German teenager Regina Mayer always wanted her very own horse, but never got one, so she settled for the next best thing: A cow. Named Luna, 15-year-old Mayer trained her to act as a horse, even having her jump over hurdles, at least, as best as a cow can jump over hurdles. Bonus: A fella that was interviewed for the news segment is named Martin Putzhammer.

Scientists Announce They’ve Wiped Out Centuries-Old Cattle Disease: Second Viral Disease Ever Eliminated

Rinderpest, a centuries-old livestock disease that kills 80-90% of infected animals, has been completely eradicated, according to a team of veterinary scientists. Despite being a viral disease, making treatment difficult as compared with diseases which can be treated with antibiotics and antifungals, the scientists were able to use a regime of vaccination to get rid of rinderpest. To test whether the disease had indeed been eliminated, they stopped administering the vaccine; as the disease failed to come back, they have concluded that rinderpest is totally eradicated.

This makes rinderpest the second viral disease eliminated by humans: The other is smallpox.
