R.I.P. Eduard Khil, the Trololo Guy
According to the Russian International News Agency, Eduard Khil has died today after complications from a stroke he suffered in late May. The 77-year old Russian singer enjoyed a career spanning several decades, but rose to international prominence again in 2010 after his song "I Am Glad, 'Cause I'm Finally Returning Back Home" made the rounds of these great wide interwebs. You may not recognize the man or the song, but does "trolololololololololo" sound familiar?

Trololololo Guy Surprised, Heartened by Trololololo Fad
In one of those odd, touching moments that only the Internet can facilitate, a Russian news outlet got Edward Anatolevich Hill, the Russian singer whose so-called "Trololololo" routine from 1970s Soviet television has recently been revived and memeified as the "Russian Rickroll," to sit down and watch some of the jocular responses to his work on YouTube.
Not only was he not upset about being lampooned, he seemed genuinely happy: "It's love of people. They are full of feeling. I don't think that's a parody. Maybe some elements of parody, but it is benevolent parody." Video after the jump:
