Keep On Walking Supercut [Video]

Apparently filmmakers really love to shoot characters walking forward, their back to the audience, because YouTube user Editcadet1 has cut together several dozen in this impressive supercut. What’s more, the creator also set it to the toe-tapping tune of Edwin Starr, which certainly helps its watchability.

Of course, the best part of these supercuts is trying to pick out all the movies. I spotted some notable Kubrick films and a smattering of Coen Brothers pictures in there. Did your favorite flick make the cut?

3D Nazi Films Unearthed

While working on a documentary on Nazi propaganda, filmmaker Philippe Mora made an unexpected discovery in the Berlin federal archive: pre-war 3D films made in support of the reigning Nazi party.

The films were made in the 1930′s, well in advance of their introduction to Hollywood in the 1950s. The technique, called “raum film” or “space film,” involved filming through a prism which created two images. Though intended to be a part of the Nazi propaganda machine, the films seem very light in their subject matter. From Variety:

One film, a musical set during a carnival entitled “So Real You Can Touch It” features close up shots of sizzling bratwurst on a barbeque; the other “Six Girls Roll into Weekend” has what may be UFA studio starlets living it up.

Mora believes that there may still be yet more 3D films hidden in the archive, and plans to incorporate them into an upcoming documentary tentatively titled How the Third Reich Was Recorded.

Disneyland Hiring for Tron Floor Show

Disney Theme park and retail blog Stitch Kingdom notes that Disneyland California has put out an audition call for “male and female contemporary and hip-hop dancers” for a show tentatively titled ElecTRONica.

Says /Film’s Peter Sciretta:

I just happened to visit Disneyland and California Adventure last week, and they currently have a nighttime party in the area with moving bars featuring light up cups. Is it possible that they are going to recreate the End of Line club in the park with castmembers in light-up Tron costumes and a parkour fight stunt sequence? Very …

The only other tidbits about the show is that it will be put on at night (for proper glow-in-the-dark purposes), and that it will be outdoors.

Also, martial arts experience is a plus, just in case you were thinking about auditioning.

Octopus Steals Camera, Films Masterpiece

When a photographer named Victor Huang was diving in New Zealand with his camera rolling, he wound up with a far more interesting film than he might have expected, although he couldn’t fully take the credit: You see, an octopus snatched his camera away, giving the world its first full three minutes of octopus-directed cinema at its finest.

Huang recounts:

while trying to get video of a wild octopus, it suddenly dashed towards me and rips my shiny new camera from out of my hands, then swims off, all while the camera is recording! he swam away very quickly like a naughty shoplifter. after a 5 minute chase, I placed my speargun underneath him and he quickly and curiously grabbed hold of the gun as well, giving me enough time to reach in and grab the camera from out of his mouth. I didn’t feel threatened at all during the whole ordeal. he seemed to be fixated on the shiny metallic blue digital camera. the only confusing behavior was how he dashed off with it like a thief haha. cheeky octopus.

Octo-film after the jump:

Steampunk Stormtrooper Helmet

Ever have one of those days?  Your evil, mostly clockwork, mouth-breathing boss sends you down to yet another inhospitable planet on a wild goose chase.  And not just any planet, but one where it’s a billion degrees in the shade, the most efficient method of travel is on giant smelly iguanas, and you just know that you’re going to be shaking sand out of the switches and gears in your uniform for at least a month.  It hasn’t even occurred to you to ask, “Why do we have spears?

The dealmaking with Weaving is in a delicate stage that will play out in the next day or so. Agencies grouse that Marvel plays hardball in the negotiating process and also demands multi-movie commitments, though the latter usually applies to actors playing its heroes.

Flashmob Wages Largest Public Lightsaber Battle Ever

Add another item to the list of why England is cool.  On Saturday, at precisely 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time, more than one hundred people took the central court of Cabot Circus in Bristol by shiny, buzzing, laser storm.  The mob was organized by Tom Merchant-Locke, Daniel Morgan Jones and Liam Penn, using Facebook.  The clock ticked over, a whistle was blown, and the mayhem began.

/Film has no less than four videos of the event, but our favorite is below.  Is it because of the music?  Yes.  Yes it is.
