New species are being discovered every day, all around the world. Some, like the tiny frog above, are hidden among debris on the forest floor, while others are hiding in plain sight on museum shelves, just waiting to be described by researchers. Since there are so many species being discovered, it's only natural that someone try and determine which among them are the best species. It's in that spirit that we bring you the top ten new species discovered in the last year, as appointed by an international group of taxonomists and presented by the International Institute for Species Exploration at Arizona State University.

Arrested Development Has Character Posters and They Are Making Our Lives Better

Sometimes, in our rush to cover stories about weird stuff like dark lightning and make Glen eat weird things that are terrible for him, the story of the week slips by us unnoticed. Clearly, the most important story of this week is Arrested Development's new character posters, which we present here for your perusal. Here's hoping they make your day as immeasurably better as they've made ours. The GE90-115B is the world's most powerful jet engine. If it's powerful enough be the driving force behind Boeing's 777 aircraft, then just imagine all the other things it could power. GE's said that their engine would turn the Titanic into a speedboat, and we say go for it! Make a Titanic speedboat. The sheer might of the GE90 has us dreaming of a better, faster, and more powerful world filled with things driven by jet power. Why limit that power to planes? 13 Awesome Fantasy Songs You Need to Hear

Fantasy finally started to hit the mainstream when 2001's The Fellowship of the Ring turned out to be an amazing film, but short of movie soundtracks and video games, music with fantasy themes never really did. Science fiction crops up now and again in the pop culture zeitgeist, mostly in film, but for some reason fantasy remains a harder sell to serious-minded adults. Kids? Sure. Harry Potter and all that. But oh man, there's so much out there, and a lot of it's in music. You absolutely need to know about some of the amazing fantasy songs that exist, so that plausible deniability can no longer be your excuse.

7 Things We Would Like to See Thrown Through a Jet Engine

Planes, and their engines, go through a ton of testing prior to ever actually being in the air. How else do you figure out if, for example, it can withstand a barrage of a dozen or so geese slamming into it at high speed? Even so, jet engines are typically only tested for a specific set of conditions that it might encounter out in the wild. These are extreme, sure, but we can't help but wish they'd get a little more, shall we say, creative in their endeavors. That's why we've compiled a list of things we'd really like to be sent through a jet engine. For science, of course.

Here Are Some Things You Can Buy Now That Disney Owns Star Wars

In a move not unlike the scene where Yogurt shills all that Space Balls merchandise, yesterday Disney pulled back the curtain on some of the items that will be on sale as part of their Star Wars Weekends. As you may have guessed, a lot of it is mouse-shaped and a little silly, but some of it I really, really want to own.

10 Pieces of British Slang I’d Like to See Stay in the U.K.

Earlier this week, I confessed to watching much too much British television. So much so that I lobbied for 10 pieces of British slang to be adopted here in America, but just because I like some of it doesn't mean I like it all. Some British slang is confusing, distasteful, or forever marred for me by weirdly personal reasons. There were a few I liked that didn't make that list, but instead of adding more I think my time is better served by sharing 10 British slang terms I'd like to see stay on the other side of the Atlantic.

10 Board Games You Should Play on International TableTop Day

If you're not, and the last board game you played was years ago and it was Risk (meh), Monopoly (OMG boring), or Battleship (may God have mercy on your soul), then you really need to take this opportunity to try something else. For everyone's sake. The 30th, okay? Here is a list of 10 board games which you should know about. Consider trying at least one of them.

10 Pieces of British Slang I’d Like to See Adopted in America

I watch a lot of British television. My wife just watched all of Downton Abbey in about a day, and I love Doctor Who so much that we named our daughter Amelia. We're two cultures separated by a common language, but the more British television I watch, the more envious I've become of some of their slang terms, and I'd like to see some of them adopted into American English so I can use them without sounding like a jerk who's just been watching too much BBC.

13 Things We Would Like the PlayStation 4 to Look Like

We've seen some details about the PlayStation 4 and what it can do, but at their big event last week Sony failed to actually show us the box. We know it largely doesn't matter what the thing looks like. Folks don't usually buy a game console based on how it looks in their living room, but we haven't been able to stop speculating about what the PS4 is going to look like. While we anxiously await the official unveiling from Sony, we're forced to imagine what might be. Here's a list of 13 things we'd like the PS4 to look like.
