Fantasy finally started to hit the mainstream when 2001's The Fellowship of the Ring turned out to be an amazing film, but short of movie soundtracks and video games, music with fantasy themes never really did. Science fiction crops up now and again in the pop culture zeitgeist, mostly in film, but for some reason fantasy remains a harder sell to serious-minded adults. Kids? Sure. Harry Potter and all that. But oh man, there's so much out there, and a lot of it's in music. You absolutely need to know about some of the amazing fantasy songs that exist, so that plausible deniability can no longer be your excuse.

We got really excited when Hyperkin announced the RetroN 4 gaming console, which was supposed to be capable of playing NES, SNES, Genesis, and Game Boy games with one console. Hyperkin was supposed to debut the RetroN 4 at the Midwest Gaming Classic this weekend, but they didn't. Instead, they introduced the RetroN 5. So what was the fifth element in the new console?

Researchers Create Glowing Dog That Can Be Turned On and Off
Researchers at Seoul National University have announced the creation of a genetically modified, glow-in-the-dark dog. The female beagle, named Tegon, glows fluorescent under ultraviolet light. But, perhaps surprisingly, glow-in-the-dark animals aren't all that new since we've seen glowing pigs and fish before. What is particularly interesting about Tegon is that the glowing ability is capable of being turned on and off. When ingested by the dog with food, the drug doxycycline can activate or deactivate the ability to glow. Led by Lee Byeong-chun, the researchers used the same somatic cell nuclear transfer technique to make Tegon glow that was used in 2005 to make the world's first cloned dog, Snuppy.Read on...
