We still don't have flying cars, but every day it seems like more and more sci-fi tech is getting defictionalized. The chainsaw bayonet, for instance, is a real thing, and while you won't be able to mount it on a real Lancer, you can strap it to your AK-47. You do have an AK-47, don't you? Ideally for use in the zombie apocalypse, the Doublestar Zombie X Chainsaw Rail Attachment is surprisingly quiet and runs on a stock-mounted battery rather than messy, flame-prone gasoline.

I'll admit that if you want to have a pistol you can actually shoot things with, this probably isn't the pistol for you. If you want a pistol that just looks cool on your mantle, or in your gangster Facebook profile picture, this papercraft Gears of War pistol will do you just fine.

For the cover of London-based magazine SuperSuper!, Laurent Theopane Bertrand created the above 3D fingernail gun art. It doesn't come with bullets, but it is obviously the first step toward humans developing laser beam fingers, which then leads to laser beam eyes, which then leads to Cyclops, which means superheros are real.

As far as I can tell, this build doesn't actually do anything, but it's pretty impressive as is. It just blows me away that people are actually able to find all the LEGOs they need to build these things. On the one hand, I'm glad this trend has seemed to stay with crazy-devoted do-it-yourself-ers, but on the other, I would buy a kit for the M-8 Avenger in a heartbeat.

Artist Dimitri Tsykalov produces some weird art, one of the weirdest being his raw meat representations of guns, some of which come with adorable little vegetable or fungi bullets. Tsykalov says the art demonstrates the simplicity and brutality of the gun, but it is entirely possible that it also demonstrates the oozing capability of raw meat when the grip is being squeezed; guns are generally supposed to shoot bullets, but these guns ooze meat juice instead.

For some reason, a RadioShack in Hamilton, Montana thought it would make sense to offer a free gun with every Dish Network subscription, using the humorous and somewhat clever slogan pictured above. Even weirder than the pairing of the Dish Network and guns, is that the store's owner claims business has tripled since the promotion began in October. In order to qualify for the deal, customers sign up for the Dish Network, pay for installation and buy a specific amount of related equipment from the RadioShack, at which point, they receive a gift certificate for a local gun store and can choose between a Hi Point 380 pistol or a 20-gauge shotgun.

Don't worry, though, as the gun store runs all of the usual background checks, because -- as the RadioShack store manager puts it -- "we're not just giving guns to felons." The RadioShack manager claims it was difficult for them to get the Dish Network onboard with the free gun idea, as they've never had a gun promotion before (who would've guessed?) and were nervous about it.

Hilariously, if the customer either passes on the free gun offer or fails the background check, they can choose a $50 Pizza Hut gift card instead. The store manager claims that this promotion has been so successful, that they plan on running the same kind of deal next month with a DirecTV package.

This color version is to be henceforth known as “CMY-Killa”! This is because of the cyan, magenta, and yellow accent stripes that bedeck & bedazzle both sides of this dark gray/black gun. So there. These pistols are cut from 3/4” thick poplar dowels, assembled with wood glue, primed, and painted with high quality acrylics. They are then sealed with a spray-on varnish to provide extra protection against accidental scratching. This edition of guns measure 9 1/2” long, 6” tall, and 3/4” deep.

Artist Yvonne Lee Schultz's porcelain pistols are replicas of James Bond's Walther PPK and the newer P99, created in order to leave the holder "in a quandary between the luxury of pleasure and violence." And they're made for matching tea sets! Check out Schultz's various tea-and-gun sets below.

What a quaint conversation piece for the coffee table or fine gift for that young man down the street with a knack for puzzle-solving. The puzzle's name? The Intimidator.

And that name isn't just because it's difficult. It turns out, The Intimidator could also be one hell of a TSA security problem if they're not careful. It may not look like much, but first of all, it's a block of metal. That's probably going to hurt if you bash someone over the head with it, but that's not the main area of concern here.

That is a single-shot .45 caliber handgun. A working one. One that can fire a bullet at gun-speed, like a real gun. Because it is a real gun. And that is a terrifying notion. It even has a laser sight. Below is a video of the disassembly/reassembly-as-a-gun process. The video is over seven minutes long, so it’s comforting to know that if someone were to try to do this on a plane, they’d probably get noticed.

Both are available on eBay.

The lightning gun, in a blow to aspiring mad scientists everywhere, does not actually shoot lightning.  It does however, do a very good job of looking as though it is about to shoot lightning:

According to Alberico, 4 minutes of cranking gets you 1 minute of light from the lantern.

"Doris" is a rifle, or, to be more appropriate, a blunderbuss that can be loaded with either a magazine of four ping-pong balls or a barrel-full of confetti.

Also in Alberico's deviantART gallery is his "Black Betty," a handgun equipped with two 40 caliber balls. If you don't have any projectiles for it, it can also simply ignite flash paper. Which allows it to shoot fire.
