    Honey Boo Boo Has a Comic Book, and Now There’s Variant Covers

    We don't know how we missed the fact that in November comics publisher Blue Water Productions printed a comic book about reality television child Alana Thompson as in Honey Boo Boo -- we're just lucky we guess -- but today they also released "collectible" variant covers. We put "collectible" in quotes not as a commentary on the perceived value of such an item, but because the covers are only being offered digitally, so we're not sure how one would really go about collecting them, or why one would want to.

Her and her family's antics have captivated audiences in much the same way as a train wreck captivates bystanders. Folks just can't look away.     Child beauty pageants are pretty much everyone's favorite form of low-grade, civil society approved child abuse, and with the baffling popularity of Honey Boo Boo firmly entrenched, we can expect the pageant scene to enter a renaissance soon. Don't worry, though. A new study shows that parents, not children, get the most emotional benefit from the pageant scene. Which is convenient, because if you're the sort of person who would enter your child into one of these things, chances are you also need external reasons to feel good about the person you are.
