Actually, Mark Wahlberg Might Not Ruin the Uncharted Movie After All

A while back, it was a very sad day. Mark Wahlberg took it upon himself to announce a few adaptation-murdering details regarding the Uncharted movie, which included himself cast as the lead of Nathan Drake, and the addition of Nathan’s father and uncle, who haven’t even made an appearance in the video game series (so far, not counting the theory that Sully, Nathan’s older partner-in-crime, is related to Nathan in some way). Well, it turns out there’s been a few developments regarding what once seemed to be concrete details, in that, thankfully, said details may not be so concrete, including a video of a fan personally petitioning David O. Russell, the film’s director, to nix Mark Wahlberg in place of Nathan Fillion. Read on past the break for details that might make you feel a bit better about the fate of Nathan Drake’s Hollywood appearance.

Suicide Girls Banned from Comic Con, But Booth Babes Are Totally Fine

The LA Times is reporting that members of the internet community Suicide Girls will be banned from having a booth at this year’s San Diego Comic Con for the first time in four years, and, though the information is murky on both sides, we’re inclined to agree with their assessment.

Comic-Con International claims that it saw evidence that adult DVDs were being sold to underage con-goers, while Suicide Girls maintains that they educate all of their con workers about proper procedure, and “instruct all girls who are present at conventions to check IDs for anyone who looks under 30. We have a large sign up at our booths that says ‘You must be 18+ with ID to purchase.’”

Toy Story 3: Inception [Trailer Mashup]

When the LA Times wrote the first in-depth piece about Inception, which they called an “existential heist flick,” we were relieved to read it — both because we’re big Christopher Nolan fans, thanks in no small part to his great job on rebooting Batman, and because, well, we didn’t really know what it was all about.

Right when we thought we’d wrapped our heads around it, the devious video editor at ScreenRant, Mike Eisenberg, just had to throw our heads for a loop. Thanks to an uncannily well-done overdub of the audio from the Inception trailer over the trailer for Toy Story 3, we, like Leonardo DiCaprio — or is that Woody? — can no longer tell fact from fiction.

Iron Man 2 Has the Fifth-Best Opening Weekend Box Office of All Time

With an opening weekend box office of an estimated $133.6 million, Iron Man 2 has had the fifth-best opening weekend of all time not including ticket price inflation, the L.A. Times reports. Not surprisingly, the movie came in at #1 among this weekend’s offerings; ticket sales for the previous #1, Nightmare on Elm Street, fell an alarming 72%.

The biggest opening weekend of all time remains another superhero movie — The Dark Knight, at $158.4 million; while Iron Man 2 didn’t come as close to the mark as some had predicted, it still did way better than the original Iron Man‘s $98.6 million opening weekend.

It’s still possible that Iron Man 2 will crack #4 if the estimates wind up being adjusted upward:

4 Big Things We Learned About Batman 3 From Christopher Nolan’s Superman 1 Interview

Geoff Boucher has an interview with Christopher Nolan about his Superman project in today’s LA Times where the acclaimed director very carefully says absolutely nothing of substance about his Superman project.

Asked if Superman as a franchise has to overcome a deficiency of truly great villains, unlike, say, Spider-Man and Batman, he won’t bite. “That’s a very sly way of asking a question I’m not going to answer.”

Touché, Mr. Nolan, touché.  However, he did say a number of definitive things about his third Batman movie, which is currently in the script-writing stage:
