Sony Stops Shipping PlayStation 2 Consoles to Japanese Retailers
People, people, please, we all knew this day was coming eventually. 13 years after making its debut in Japan in 2000 and becoming the most overwhelmingly popular game system of that decade, Sony is no longer shipping PlayStation 2 units to Japanese retailers. It's definitely the end of an era in the gaming industry, but take solace in the fact that not since the olden days of the original Nintendo Entertainment System has a video game console endured for so long.Read on...
Collector Claims to Own Every North American PlayStation 2 Release, New and Sealed
PlayStation collector Ahans76 claims he has successfully collected every single PlayStation 2 North American release. All of them. When he picked up his launch PS2, he never had the intention of starting a massive collection, but rather, he simple bought games as a hobby like the rest of us. When he reached 400 games, however, he decided it was time to catch 'em all. Collecting every single NTSC release is no small feat, but on top of that, every game is new and sealed in the original wrapping and is the original release -- Ahans76 only collected Greatest Hits titles when there was new content that was not contained within the original release. Head on past the break to see more pictures of the serious collection, and read more about his collection here.Read on...
Sony Combines Bravia HDTV with PlayStation 2
Sony has combined a Bravia HDTV with a PlayStation 2 and released it into the wild for consumer consumption. Currently, the console is exclusively available from Richer Sounds and comes with one controller. The only issue so far, aside from the somewhat ugly base, is that it's only available in the UK for the time being, priced at £199, which is about $300.Read on...

Ico is nearly ten years old, and Colossus half that age. Both were released with the best graphics that the Playstation 2 could offer, and a visual update, even if it's just an increase in resolution, would be a welcome addition to the already legendary game mechanics and stories.Read on...
