LOST is taking a break this week to give loyal viewers a chance to catch their breath before the final five episodes. Let’s take this opportunity to recap the top eight (in true LOST fashion) most shocking/important/cool moments and reveals of this season (so far!).

We hope this isn’t real, but feel duty-bound to tell you it exists: Defamer has gotten ahold of what looks like a call sheet for the final episode of LOST. [A call sheet is a production schedule for the cast and crew of a film or television production the day's production schedule for a given episode of shooting, including relevant scenes and locations.] They can’t vouch for its authenticity — a LOSTie they got in touch with said that the LOST crew is in the business of making fake call sheets “to confuse people” — but it looks substantial enough.

There are plenty of minutiae here that’ll interest diehard LOST fans, some of which Defamer delves into, but anyone who knows or cares about the LOST finale will be very interested in one particular scene description: Namely, the one that starts with “Jack in Hell.”

LOST slowed down a bit last tonight to take viewers deep into the life of one of the show’s most mysterious characters, Richard Alpert. Prior to “Ab Aeterno” (which is Latin for ‘from eternity’) we knew a few things about Richard. We knew he’s immortal, he’s a sort of advisor to Jacob, he came to the island on the Black Rock, and he’s got the most amazing eyelashes that ever belonged to a man. What we didn’t know was why Richard is eternally 35, what his relationship truly is with Jacob, and why he was on The Black Rock. Last night’s episode brought us those answers and more:

It’s been three long weeks since we last saw James “Sawyer” Ford, and he made his return in a big way this week. Both on-island and off-island action centered on everyone’s favorite bad boy during “Recon,” the eighth episode in the final season of LOST. Let’s begin with the off-island action.

Many loyal LOST viewers aren’t fans of the new flash-sideways action this season. But tonight’s episode proved that the flash-sideways can be just as exciting and mind-bending as the on-island action:

It is episodes like last night’s — “The Substitute” — that have secured LOST as a cult classic and kept viewers coming back season after season despite the unending stream of questions.

I began the episode hoping that it would pick up where last week’s left off, that we’d see a disheveled Claire staring Jin down the barrel of her gun, but that is nowhere near where we began this episode. By the first commercial break, I didn’t even care that this was clearly going to be a Claire-less episode.
