Assassin’s Creed III Independence Day Trailer is Cool but a Bit Weird [Video]

Ubisoft released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed III today. Don't get me wrong, it's a super rad video. There are just a few things that might make you go "Huh?" A trailer for a game about stalking and killing people set to Amazing Grace. Huh? A call to "Ignite the Revolution" this July 4th. Huh? All this coming from the Montréal division of Rennes-based publisher, Ubisoft. Huh? Well, watch the trailer yourself and see what you think. One thing is for sure, I'll still be waiting in line this October 30th for my copy of ACIII.

With popular appearances in Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, among others, his trajectory has continued on its upward path. New Dark Knight Rises Trailer Looks Great, Features Bat-Quip About the Batplane

It's been a long time since we had a new trailer for Christopher Nolan's latest Batman film The Dark Knight Rises, and this one doesn't disappoint. Not only do explosions abound, there's also a totally sweet skyjacking, some shocking destruction, and tantalizing hints about the actual plot of the movie. And it's just a hunch, but I have a feeling that "it's not a car," is going to be an oft-quoted line come this summer.

New Trailer For Ridley Scott’s Prometheus Has a Familiar “Face”

When it comes to the forthcoming Ridley Scott sci-fi flick Prometheus, the going line has been that it is not really a prequel to the Alien franchise. Sure, it will take place before the events of the original film in the same universe, and Scott is quoted as saying that the new film would contain "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak," but it's really not a prequel. The latest trailer, however, seems to suggest otherwise. See it, after the break.

Get Ready To Take A Vacation In SimCity [Trailer]

It's been almost 10 years since the last time you had the change to build your own thriving, or perhaps less-than-thriving city in a new verison of the premier city-sim, SimCity. Now, after that cool-off period, the time has come to rediscover the thrill of, uh, taxes! And finance! And, like, zoning laws! You can expect SimCity 5(000?) to look really pretty and have more granularity (and llamas!) than any previous entry in the series, but don't be fooled, the images in the trailer are not "representative of actual gameplay." Nonetheless, I'm sure it'll be great and I'm glad to see some new life injected into this wonderful little genre that hasn't gotten much love lately.

Guys, it looks pretty amazing.  See it, in all its glory, after the break.

    PhD Comics Movie Trailer

The trailer for the highly anticipated movie (or at least highly anticipated for those among us who have ever experienced the pain that is graduate school) adaptation of PhD Comics has arrived. "PhD" standing for Piled Higher and Deeper, is based on the online comic by Jorge Cham. The movie was produced in part by the California Institute of Technology, where it was also filmed.

The movie chronicles the ups and downs of academic life by following four graduate students who are regulars in Cham's comic: Cecilia, Mike, Tajel, and the “Nameless Grad Student." Screenings of the film can be arranged for college campuses this fall on the movie's website.

This movie has Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Sigourney Weaver, Seth Rogan, and Gilbert Gottfreid in it. It looks more than solid, but we're looking forward to the movie's attempts to convince us that Jason Bateman is a man in black. (via Blastr.)

Preview for Young Justice, DC’s New Sidekick Series, Is Very Male

No one was really allowed to film in the preview rooms of New York Comic Con, but we know that doesn't actually stop people. And for hand-cam footage, this actually ain't that bad. Although I could nitpick about some of the dialogue and Batman appearing in broad daylight, overall, the show looks worth checking out. The animation is slick, and, as a Bruce Timm/Paul Dini-verse fan, not a style that I'm used to seeing my heroes in. But seriously where are the girls. Not even one? No Wonder Girl? No Supergirl? Hell, I'd even take Mary Marvel. It's not just the male superheroes in the Justice League who think it's a good idea to train preteens to beat up criminals. You are letting down the trope.
