Code.org Gets Gates, Zuckerberg, and More to Talk About Importance of Coding [Video]
A few weeks ago Code.org launched with the goal of getting more young people excited about coding. When they launched there were rumors that they were producing a video with some of the biggest names in coding like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Today they released that video, and sure enough, Gates and Zuckerberg are in there. They're in good company too, with some big name coders from Twitter, Dropbox, and for some reason will.i.am. The takeaway message? Being a programmer now is basically like being a junk bond trader in the 1980s, except the cocaine and strippers have been replaced with free pizza and awesome rumpus rooms, and the bond trading has been replaced with doing something of some utility to society.Read on...
This is the First Human Voice Broadcast From MarsWe don't know how NASA administrator Charles Bolden won the rights to become the first human voice transmitted from Mars, but we dearly hope the matter was settled in the traditional way -- a lirpa-wielding battle to the death. Even if it wasn't -- and really, don't tell us if it wasn't -- this is still pretty cool. James Cameron to Helm Black Eyed Peas DocumentarySo director James Cameron isn't going to crawl under a rock for another 13 years (the epoch that transpired between Titanic and Avatar): In March, he was spotted filming a "top secret outdoor concert" of the Black Eyed Peas to celebrate Samsung's 3D LED TV campaign launch, covered in not-so-top-secret depth by various blogs. Now, it appears, Cameron is on board to direct an entire 3D concert documentary for the Black Eyed Peas' World Tour. Band frontman will.i.am, not to be out done by Cameron's "I'm the king of the world!"
