I like fantasizing about the zombie apocalypse about as much as the next guy, but something about this bedspread is just a little creepy. Maybe it's the hands that seem to be coming from underneath, or maybe it's the bloodstains on the pillows. At least that'd hide my drool stains, assuming I could ever actually get to sleep.

We still don't have flying cars, but every day it seems like more and more sci-fi tech is getting defictionalized. The chainsaw bayonet, for instance, is a real thing, and while you won't be able to mount it on a real Lancer, you can strap it to your AK-47. You do have an AK-47, don't you? Ideally for use in the zombie apocalypse, the Doublestar Zombie X Chainsaw Rail Attachment is surprisingly quiet and runs on a stock-mounted battery rather than messy, flame-prone gasoline.

Our favorite do-it-yourselfer, Jörge Sprave, rings in the new year with another implement in destruction, this time a zombie hammer-slingshot combination, complete with a spike on one end (for heads, you know?) and a "head ejector," in order to get the spike out of the newly punctured zombie head quickly enough to continue with your getaway. This Halloween, you are in for a special treat. Jörge Sprave, slingshot god, has put out a nifty little video where he painstakingly thinks through the advantages and tactics of using slingshots as a weapon against zombies. Granted, slingshots aren't exactly dream weapons against the undead horde, though they certainly beat out the oft-lauded, actually awful chainsaw. Still, Jörge's approach of getting to a roof and picking off the guys with a giant slingshot turret proves to be pretty well thought out. So long as have a rooftop and giant slingshot turret to fall back to.

The Rooftop Zombie Annihilation Sligshot (RTZAS) features an 11 foot draw-length and enough power to utterly destroy a dead head. As a plus, it has a pretty wide attack range and is extremely accurate, in the hands of a master, at least. The end result is a slingshot weapon as elegant as it is deadly. And the sound it makes? Music to my ears.

Here's an occasion for political alarm if ever their was one: One citizen's Freedom of Information request to the city council of Leicester, England revealed that the city is woefully unprepared for a zombie attack. According to the "concerned citizen" who filed the request, a man by the name of Robert Ainsley, "Having watched several films it is clear that preparation for such an event is poor and one that councils throughout the kingdom must prepare for." BBC:

"We've had a few wacky ones before but this one did make us laugh," said Lynn Wyeth, head of information governance. The Freedom of Information Act allows a right of access to recorded information held by public authorities. Ms Wyeth said she was unaware of any specific reference to a zombie attack in the council's emergency plan, however some elements of it could be applied if the situation arose.

This is a trailer for upcoming zombie game Dead Island, developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver, slated to hit the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC sometime this year. My first response to this trailer was "...what?" Then when I found out this game is going to be a zombie-based first-person shooter, my response changed to "...why." Note the deliberate period. Then I found out that the game is a sandbox zombie-based first-person shooter with four player drop in cooperative play that is heavily influenced by George A. Romero movies, and my response changed to "...well, at least this trailer happened." The developers claim that we shouldn't worry, and the game will be different from how the description makes it seem like it is going to end up. The trailer suggests a kind of Heavy Rain game with a zombie twist, but it'll probably prove difficult to provide an emotional story when three other buds drop into co-op. My guess is that this trailer is more of a concept than anything that has to do with the game, other than the zombies. Hopefully I'm wrong about that. You can try to be too cool for Valentine's Day all you like, but it's going to happen anyway, and you can't avoid it. You don't have to like it, because it's nearly impossible to like a 99% commercial holiday. But don't try to escape it, because there is no escape. It is a zombie out to get you, and it's here. (You were probably one of those "Was there some kind of game happening today?" people on Super Bowl Sunday. Guess what? Everyone knew that you knew there was a game that day.) But in case there is still a tiny, microscopic neutron inside of you that feels an urge to do something, even something weird, snarky, or slightly mean, then here are some (mostly) printable Valentine's Day cards just for you, lovingly scraped from a few corners of the Web.

Whether you dig the current zombie fad or not, Minecraft has zombies all over the place and they're even dressed like the standard player character, pretty much signifying that either Minecraft has a little something to do with the Zombie Apocalypse, or Notch was a little lazy and didn't feel like giving zombies different clothes. YouTube user Landstrider, who self-identifies as a fan of the graphic novel, offers this supercut of every Walking Dead zombie death in Season 1 of the television series in 60 seconds -- "Consists of 42 death shots with 37 edit/cuts." Spoilers ensue, to the extent that zombie deaths count as plot points. (via io9)

Rob Liefeld is best known for the incredible feat of becoming a professional comic book writer and artist despite a known reputation for missing deadlines and being disproportionately egotistical, and an inability to draw the following things: feet, hands, women, muscles, and perspective. What's next on the docket for the comic book world's greatest successful troll? A comic about the zombie uprising that corresponded with the death of Jesus, according (sort of) to the Book of Matthew.

Remember at the end of Shaun of the Dead, where zombies have been integrated into human life as menial workers? A charmingly creative alternative look at the tail end of a zombie outbreak. But you'll never guess who's picked up on a version of that idea and is using it as an actually well produced Halloween tie in. Sears.

If you've ever wanted to quickly turn into a zombie then back into a human without anyone the wiser, these shirts that sport a zombie face on the inside are probably a lot easier than contracting and subsequently curing the T-virus, even though something called "T-virus" sure seems appropriate for something called "T-shirt."

Listen, Japan is weird. Really, really weird. So weird, in fact, that they stage zombie invasions to scare little kids on their television shows. At least they got what was coming to them when one of the little kids rose up against the zombie apocalypse and took matters into his own hands.

Unluckily for the child, his bravery doesn't change the fact that his parents thought staging a zombie invasion was a good thing to do to their children.
