David Tennant and Matt Smith had such good chemistry on the set of “Day of the Doctor” that they quickly became inseparable. Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat said in an interview with Radio Times that the two got along like old friends.

According to Moffat, the actors behind the tenth and eleventh Doctors went as far as to come up with a plan to do more episodes together, but he had to shoot them down. To fans who just had their dreams crushed, we’re sorry. We’re so sorry.

Fans eagerly awaiting the 50th anniversary special will be glad to hear that the pair’s off-screen chemistry translated very well into their performances.

Moffat said, “It’s one of those happy accidents. There’s no reason why they should be, but they are absolutely adorable and hilarious together.” We disagree. There is, in fact, no reason they shouldn’t be hilarious and adorable together.

This is hardly the most surprising news to come out of “Day of the Doctor,” but it’s definitely got us even more excited to see the actors play the Doctor together. We wouldn’t have guessed it was possible to be more excited.
