    This is retarded – anyone who would know these quotes would know who said them. Anyone with half a brain would realize that someone attributing “with great power comes great responsibility” to Batman is TRYING to get a rise out of you and simply dismiss them.

    So honestly, is this a list of trollquotes, or is this a trollpost?

    The image is of a Slitheen, a universally-hated Doctor Who enemy. They’ve made a few appearances on the series since the 2005 reboot.

    That’s just the term we were calling it while we were doing all the Photoshopping, so we titled it that in the post as well :).

    Well yes, that one’s too obvious to work.

    But the Doctor Who ones? Star Trek? Oh, you have no idea how many levels those ones work on.

    Especially #21, because the number of fans who LOATHED Rose and loved Martha, or who liked all the previous companions but dislike Amy Pond, etc. etc., you have no idea. And the show is obscure enough that fans could ALMOST see people making mistakes like that.

    You should see this as proof that you take yourself too seriously.

    I am a MAJOR nerd for the Nu Who series, and #14 and #21 cracked me up. Especially #21, because watching the fans who are split on which companions they liked and which “suck”, is so tiresome that seeing one that insults at least three of the major camps (Rose fans, ESPECIALLY Martha fans, and anybody that dislikes Amy) is paradoxically a breath of fresh air.

    #2 made me twitch a bit. Mass Effect is my favorite series, and I won’t be able to see “All your base” without hearing Slippy from now on.

    Also, I’m surprised there aren’t more HAL/GLaDOS mashups, XKCD notwithstanding.

    Obvious trolls are obvious. The whole point is to make it look like a legitimate mistake, but by having 3 different aspects (quote, picture, attribution) and them all being wrong makes it way too obvious. 2 of the 3 should match up, like for the banner pic for the article have an actual Dumbledore quote, attributed to Dumbledore but the Gandalf picture. It’d be more effective at making people rage.

    The true test of this is to see which ones actually make you rage a little as you read all 32, even though you know the joke going in. I had to catch myself a few times, and from that can be gleaned which topics or fan-subjects you take a little too seriously. :)

    This is really good, except that you’ve taken the original concept and gone one step too far with it. The original just has the quote attributed to the wrong person. You’ve got wrong person and wrong image, which is overkill. it removes a layer of subtlety. Sort of like Oreo Double Stuf Cookies… “Hmm.. what’s the best part of an Oreo? The cream! I know! We’ll add twice as much! It’ll be twice as good.” Not really.

    not a question of taking oneself seriously (I think). Just proper attribution…passing on incorrect info really grates on my nerves. Many of the most annoying ones are for topics/movies/whatever that I don’t even care for.

    You failed at failing pretty hard with 31. The rest have a picture, a quote and the quoted which are all unrelated. But then you went and used a picture related to the quote. Fair enough they are from different ages and different actors played them, but it’s the same character.

    I think they could have even combined different quotes into one to really throw some people off. Like taking a picture from Equilibrium, adding the quote “Do or do not, there is no spoon.” and then attributing it to say Gargamel or something.
