Twitch Plays Pokémon Somehow Got All 8 Badges, Will Soon Take on the Elite Four

Professor Oak, is it time to use the SS Ticket yet!? It's important!

Against all odds, Twitch Plays Pokémon has managed to get all 8 badges in their massively multiplayer online game of Pokémon Red Version, and they’re on their way to beat the Elite Four. If you’ve been waiting to see how everything turns out, or if you’re lying in wait until the opportune moment to release all of their pokémon, they’re closing in on the finish line now.

Honestly, I kind of don’t want it to end, but it’s inevitable. As I’m writing this, the crew (which totals a simultaneous 50,000+ users) is trying to level up their team of pokémon to compete with the game’s final bosses, but they’re in anarchy mode right now, so it’s going about as well as you’d expect.

That team, of course, features the Omanyte that they eventually revived from the holy Helix Fossil and—༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ PRAISE HELIX ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ— ahem, where was I? Sorry. If you missed that big moment, you can see it right here in their highlights reel:

If, like me, you’ve been enjoying the phenomenon but haven’t exactly had the time to sit and actively try to play it due to life and stuff, you can also get in on the rest of the highlights with the Twitch Plays Pokémon YouTube channel. I especially recommend Bloody Sunday, in which a whole bunch of Pokémon got released into the wild, never to be seen again.

The game has been going on 24 hours a day for a total of 13 days and 19 hours at this point, so we’re nearing the end of a nearly two week, non-stop online gaming event. If you want to enjoy its end, you can head here for instructions on how to remove all of the button commands from the chat so that you can delve into the weird, vaguely religious following and help pay tribute to a bunch of mostly useless items.

The Google Doc will also keep you updated on the weird, ragtag team of Pokémon they’ve assembled and what the short and long-term goals are so that you can plot how to use anarchy mode how to disrupt them and keep the good times rolling.

Or, I guess you could actually try to help beat the game if that’s what you’re into.
