A preliminary listen reveals some promising things, including: Jay-Z‘s “Lucifer” laid over the Mako Reactor theme, and Gucci Mane chilling to the Costa del Sol tropicália. You can download Vinyl Fantasy 7 for any price, including $0 (In Rainbows style), so: get on it. Team Teamwork previously released The Ocarina of Rhyme, which pits the likes of Busta Rhymes and Dr. Dre against the music from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Try playing some of those mashups with your Nintendo 64 C-buttons.

It’s worth pointing out that Nobuo Uematsu, the composer of much of the Final Fantasy music (including the score for Final Fantasy VII), was actually first at the game of reinventing the FFVII soundtrack: his band, the Black Mages, played “FINAL FANTASY battle music arranged in rock style.” Sick, bro.
