We’re Still Looking for a Web Development Intern for Summer 2011

Hey, loyal readers: Geekosystem is still looking for a web development intern for Summer 2011.

Recommended Videos

Applicants should be college graduates (or current college students graduating in May/June 2011) looking for hands-on experience in web development at a fast-growing media startup.

Geekosystem and its sister sites provide news and commentary to 10 million unique visitors a month. The development team adds new features to our sites, builds web apps to support their efforts, and generally makes sure that the company’s engine is humming along in tip-top shape.

Qualifications:

Enthusiasm and willingness to learn are, to us, much more important in an intern than specific skills. Applicants will be helped by all of the following qualifications, but no one is absolutely necessary:

*** Basic Web Design and Production: HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.

*** Significant Programming Experience: While we don’t expect you to read Lisp or to be able to recite the latest gem releases available on RubyForge, you should have actual experience with personal or academic projects.

*** Knowledge of multiple languages: If you love exploring new programming languages, even those you’re not required to learn for a class, this may be the internship for you.

*** Graphic design experience: Photoshop, GIMP — nothing you haven’t heard of.

How to apply:

Applicants should contact [email protected] with the following information:

*** A resume/CV

*** Detailed information about technical experience – classes, programming projects, etc.

*** A cover letter explaining why you are the ideal intern for this position

The process is rolling, so apply ASAP if you’re interested.
