What People Are Doing Online [Infographic]

Everyone is almost always online nowadays, but what is everyone actually doing there? Most often, wasting time, but you may be surprised to learn that there are actually a number of productive things you can do on the Internet. I know! I was surprised when I found out too! According to this infographic by Flowtown some of the most common Internet activities are simple things like “using a search engine” or “watching videos,” but also more important things like online banking and practically everyone is sending emails to practically everyone else. The one curious thing is how low Tweeting ranks in the lists, but I suppose it doesn’t take very long, so that might explain way. How do you square up against the norm?

Things you can do online

  • Enthusiast

Only 13% of adults use Twitter. Why am I constantly hearing about this ridiculous ‘service’ if it has such low saturation? Will someone please get the message out so I can stop hearing about this inane service?  Maybe you can tweet it!

  • Anonymous

A few reasons. In certain venues, Twitter is becoming one of the primary modes of communication. It’s weird, because you can only communicate in bite-sized tweets. But, for the sports and celebrity arena, Twitter is essentially taking a huge chunk out of “real journalism,” and is also a way for celebrities to mingle with us normals and bolster their fanbase.

Some use it ridiculously so — the common meme supporting that is how many people tweet pictures of their lunch or breakfast. But the level of “important” use goes both ways for any service.

It’s nice to see people have finally stopped using the Internet to view porn.

I think this is this is showing the 1% that don’t look at porn, I am the 99%. Heh

  • Brett Davids

there’s porn on the Internet now?

  • Velexia Ombra

Yeah, I don’t buy this, not a single reference to porn.  I am guessing that 25% of my bookmarks are pornographic.
