Woman Addicted To Water Drinks 100 Glasses A Day

Sasha Kennedy of Essex is addicted to water, drinking 25 liters of the stuff a day, far exceeding the USDA Recommended Daily Water Intake of  2.7 liters. Her condition provokes many pressing questions, namely “Won’t that dilute her blood?” and “Has she ever tried soda?”

What surprised me most was that the condition had a name: Psychogenic polydipsia. It is “an uncommon clinical disorder characterized by excessive water-drinking in the absence of a physiologic stimulus to drink” and is typically found among mental patients on phenothiazine medications. Kennedy appears to be completely sane, although she does experience the dry mouth sensation characteristic of the condition.

If I feel my mouth start to get dry I have to get my next fix of water – it’s all I can focus on. People never really think anyone can drink that much until they get to know me – then they just cannot believe their eyes.

You’d think drinking so much water would do something to her health, but medical experts confirmed that there is nothing wrong with her. She doesn’t even have hypoatremia, where cells swell due to too much water in the blood. She’s perfectly healthy and her blood isn’t diluted. Then again, her habit started when she was two years old, so maybe her body acclimatized.

Her lifestyle, however, is drastically affected by her addiction. She has to go to the toilet 40 times a day and can only get about an hour of sleep every night before having to wake up to drink some water or go to the loo. She carries large bottles of water with her everywhere she goes, and once quit her job because the tap water quality wasn’t up to par.

Speaking of water quality, here’s Kennedy with bottles of her favorite water.

So now we know Highland Spring and Buxton are the best of bottled water.

I really really want to know what she thinks of soda.

I like how your first thought after reading an article about a person who can drink about 9 times as much water as the average person and suffer no adverse effects is, “hah hah, she’s fat.”  Real classy.

I imagine her sodium levels must be dangerously low.

This is a disorder and likely not psychogenic. If it’s not a lack of anti-diuretic hormone(usually caused by a pituitary adenoma)…could it be a an insensitivity to anti-diuretic hormone? Or even the production of antibodies to anti-diuretic hormone? Or some unusual kidney disorder? Two year olds are not prone to psychogenic disorders.

And here for me even getting two glasses of water a day is a rarity. I just don’t like it. At all. I do drink some coffee, tea and diet soda regularly, but water, ugh. My mother is the same. Makes me sick to my stomach. For some medical tests I’ve been asked to drink say 6 cups in a row and it was a horrible feeling. I cannot imagine feeling compelled to drink it all the time!

I guess to “Dieter”‘s defense, I wonder what the rest of her diet consists of. Water does fill up your stomach. And she does seem as overweight as a lot of Americans. So she doesn’t substitute food with water. Or does the water add to her weight? I’m not trying to call her fat, but weight loss tips often include “drink water instead of snacking” advice.

Imagine all the plastic bottle waste that can be attributed to her habit. Too bad the planet has to suffer for her habit.

I’m so happy she’s contributing massive amounts of toxic plastic to the environment.

I keep reading the word Buxton as Buxom.

Why do we even have this junk on the internet?  We have actual stories out in the world and we have to see this crap about a fat woman who drinks too much water?  This seems like something you would see on the “Fake” doctor Phil or some daytime tv show.

Come on people……..wake the hell up!

Yeah, cause the UK is the one with the overweight problem, not the US…

You sound ignorant, they don’t make the bottles for her, so if she buys them or not they still will get made correct???
