YouTube Adds One Click Optimization To Its Video Editor

Recommended Videos

Not too long ago, YouTube rolled out its in-browser video editor, boasting features like color correction and shake compensation. And while that was all well and good, in order for users to get the most out of these features, they’d have to actually use them, and — presumably — have the slightest idea of what they’re doing. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case. YouTube’s latest editing update, Video Manager, will identify the problems with your video on its own, and then fix them, all with the click of a single button. You no longer have an excuse.

You don’t even have to ask Video Manager to take a look at your videos for you. On upload, if the need for correction is detected, video manager will prompt you with a button to fix the issues. Once they’re fixed, you’ll be presented with a side-by-side video of before and after and can decide if you dig the changes. If not, you can keep the old version; YouTube holds on to a copy of the original.

The only situation in which the Video Manager might be just the slightest bit inconvenient is if you upload from a mobile device, in which case you have to wait until you get to a desktop to optimize. Other than that though, it’s as easy as it sounds, and generates some pretty good results. When it comes to YouTube cinematography, I’m all for anything that might improve quality on the whole. I just wonder how long it’ll be until correction is default. The feature is rolling out to users now.

Check out a back-to-back before and after in the YouTube doubler here.
